About our founder.

Jennifer Livovich's journey has been one of resilience and transformation. Growing up in northwest Indiana, she had aspirations of becoming the mayor of Chicago and providing housing for the homeless in her mother's workplace. However, life took unexpected turns, and by the age of 38, she found herself battling alcoholism and experiencing homelessness.

After leaving an abusive marriage, Jennifer sought refuge in safe houses, eventually landing in Boulder, Colorado, where a friend offered her a fresh start. Unfortunately, she burned out her friend's support and ended up living on the streets for five challenging years. Her encounters with the criminal justice system resulted in numerous citations, nights in jail, and costly interactions with detox facilities.

Jennifer's turning point came when she experienced severe frostbite in her toes during a stay in detox. This moment sparked a profound change within her. Through a voluntary transitional sober program, she embraced sobriety, repaired relationships, and rekindled her sense of accountability. Determined to make a difference, she pursued her education at Colorado State University and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services.

Driven by her personal experience, Jennifer founded Feet Forward in 2020, a nonprofit focused on providing support and resources to the homeless community. She distributed socks, organized weekly programs in the park, and built connections with various organizations and individuals invested in solving homelessness.

Her new nonprofit, Streetscape, centers the expertise of people who have previously experienced homelessness. Peer support services is the cornerstone of her work, emphasizing the need for comprehensive wrap-around services that address addiction, mental health, and other intersecting challenges faced by individuals transitioning into stable housing.

Jennifer's charisma and dedication have made her a go-to person for those seeking solutions to the homelessness crisis in Boulder. Her 4-point plan for addressing homelessness gained significant attention when published as an editorial in the Daily Camera. While her journey has taken different paths, her dream of caring for the homeless continues to shape her reality.
